Pinellas County is part of the Tampa Bay region of Florida, along with Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough, Polk, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. Though economic activity revolves around a variety of aquaculture harvesting, including fishing and shrimping, sponge diving and its legacy are what the city is known for.
