Additionally, Mann Research Center is a 150-acre research park. Known for its golf, the city hosts three PGA tour courses that are open to the public.
The seat of St. Lucie County is Fort Pierce. The city's location near the Indian River Lagoon makes it a prime spot for researchers who are interested in the most biologically diverse estuary in the nation. Both the Smithsonian Marine Station and Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution.
