Lee County is located in the southwest Florida region, along with Collier and Charlotte counties. The economic heart of Lee County, the city?s strength is in the services, including the healthcare and tourism industries. Just south of the city is Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida's newest public university. Additionally, Florida SouthWestern State College, formerly Edison State College, is located within city limits.
