Mount Dora is a city in Lake County in East Central Florida. It's population as recorded in the 2010 Census was 12,370. Mount Dora is approximately 24 miles from Deltona (population 85,182) and around 23 miles from Sanford (population 53,570).  The city is located northeast of Lake Dora and is a part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Mount Dora gets its name from from Lake Dora, named for Ms. Dora Ann Drawdy, and was officially named Mount Dora because of its elevation of 184 feet above sea level. The city features both rural and urban areas, and is home to the Donnelly House, a historic home located on Donnelly Avenue. Mount Dora's real estate is more upmarket compared to the rest of Lake County.  The city's median income for a family in 2014 was approximately $46,000.
