Liberty County is located in northwest Florida, along with Bay, Santa Rosa, Escambia, Walton, Holmes, Jackson, Washington, Okaloosa, Calhoun, Gulf, Franklin, Gadsden, Leon, Jefferson, and Wakulla counties. Liberty County is Florida's least populous county and The Apalachicola National Forest occupies half the county. Its main industries by employment are public administration; education, health, & social services; and construction. Liberty County is also known for its timber industry. The major private sector employers are Twin Oaks Juvenile Development, C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc, Georgia Pacific, North Florida Lumber, Inc, and Apalachee Pole. Top public sector employers are Liberty County and Liberty County School District.
